Cambridge v Crawley
29th October 2005
Style: Country and Western.
Our basic formation remained the same,
as it had been in the Weymouth game,
but midfield was graced with Chick's golden mane.
And Fola replaced Nolan...

Two minutes gone and the game took shape,
Bridgo set them with up with a bad mistake,
and like a dead body in a great big lake
our defence had gone missing...

The home fans got just a little bit nervous,
the start had made them think they were at the circus,
the memory of Weymouth had begun to irk us,
but we panicked far too early...

Hanlon crossed the ball for David Chick,
headed in the goal with the deftest flick.
Like a seal getting caught in an oil slick,
It was Crawleys time to panic...
De de de de de de de de de de,

And now Cambridge were in the ascendancy,
but we always knew there was a tendency,
like traffic lights at the Grand Prix,
to take our foot right off of the pedal...
De de de de de de de de de de,

But...the ball fell to Hanlon and he had a go,
struck his shot, it was hard and low,
Like a Beejee song in falsetto,
Hanlon strikes his balls so hard...

Well Hanlon had scored to much elation.
The supporters got lost in their celebration.
But we didn't need the reaffirmation
that we cannot keep a clean sheet.

Oh...We started well when the game resumed,
"We're gonna score again" is what we all assumed,
and like a cruise liner that been marooned,
Crawley looked lost at sea...
De de de de de de de de de de,
de de de de de, de de
Chance after chance failed to come to fruition,
It soon became clear that the opposition -
like a man suffering from repetition -
may grab an equa-liser [oh they may grab an equa-liser!]
De de de de de de de de de de,
de de de de de, de de
The performance wasn't great, but the win was key,
and now we need to find some consistency.
And though they'd frown if you did it at a dinner party -
We need to climb on up the table...
De de de de de de de de de de,
de de de de de, de de
Climb on up the table!
De de de de de de de de de de,
de de - de de de de de de de de - de de de de da da daaaaa
Yee ha!
